An ADHD Coach facilitates performance, learning, and development. Coaching assists to establish a link between long-term goals and daily activities and creates a support structure to achieve those long-term goals. Each session will cover goal setting, support structures and self-regulation/awareness.

As a Coach I do not set the goals, decide on the steps or even plan how to accomplish the activities. My job is to assist the client in doing these things and to provide a positive structure for success. A Coach brainstorms ideas with client looking closely for obstacles, providing tools to accomplish steps, and building a check-in system. We also provide support and guidance designed specifically to maximize strengths and mitigate obstacles that may stem from current weaknesses.

I have worked with students for many years in differing capacities: athletic coach, scout master, instructor with GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Program, classroom volunteer, and adjunct instructor at the university level. After finding out that some of my family members have executive functioning challenges and several ADHD related symptoms, I began to learn all I could about ADHD. In June 2104 I completed the Coaching Children and Teens with ADHD certificate program with University of New Hampshire.

I have had a wide and varied career opportunities. I graduated from Clarkson University with a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics. I completed my MS at Boise State University in Instructional and Performance Technology. I was in the US Army (Active Duty and Reserves) as an aviator, and also as an instructor. I have worked as a technical communicator teaching business skills (writing, public speaking, etc.) to engineers. And to round it out, I have worked for a consulting firm to develop the best training paths forward when making major acquisitions.

Although all that may sound very different, what is consistent is that I enjoy working with others to help them perform certain skills to the best of their ability. And, as an ADHD Coach I continue to do that.
