Kara Goobic
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I work with children, adolescents and adults, using a pragmatic, problem-solving approach. Through psycho-education, I help patients learn as much as they can about themselves to better understand their symptoms, strengths and challenges.
Many of the disorders I treat impact the whole family, so I focus on developing strategies that all family members can utilize to help one another.
I also work closely with parents to help advocate for their child to provide the best care possible within the school system. Home consultations are also available for parents who want support and ideas for managing behavioral problems.
My special interests include diagnosis and treatment of AD/HD and Autism Spectrum disorders across the lifespan, as well as anxiety and depression.
I received a B.A. in Psychology from The Catholic University of America, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University, and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at The University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel-Hill, North Carolina TEACCH Center.
